Elgin Tea Party

What: We are starting on the birthday of our nation. This will be our 1st official outing, and the purpose of this gathering is:

-To celebrate our God-given freedom, which our Founding Fathers wrote and signed into affect on this day.

-To celebrate America and our patriotism with joy in our hearts, a bump in our step, and smiles on our faces.

   - To officially get together, united for the first time. This is a community we are going to build together.

-To walk united under our flags. The key here: We need as many bodies walking with us as possible.

-To have a light Breakfast together (BYO) and get to know one another, for we are going into into battle together.

On this day, as we celebrate our country, we will get together; get to know one another and set the foundation to change,
to take back that which so many have bled and died for...Our country, the shinming city on the hill.

When:  July 4th, at 8 a.m. SHARP. We will only have a little time before having to get lined up, so we will begin right at 8:00. Be like the Minute Men and act with purpose and priority.

Where: The North Corner of the David C. Cook Parking lot. It is 2 blocks from the starting point.

850 N Grove
Elgin, IL 60120

We have been granted permission to gather here before the parade by David C. Cook personnel.

What to Wear:  Plan for the weather. We would like Tea Party shirts purchased that are red. It would be GREAT if everyone were wearing a red shirt with navy blue pants (sort of a uniform). Imagaine 100 of marching down the parade, flags waving, patriotic signs shown and some semblance of a uniform community handing out invitations for more to join. Great results require great actions.

The Parade Route:

14 blocks, kicking off at 9 a.m., starting from Douglas and Slade, and continuing South, down Douglas, ending at Highland.

Length of time:  Should end by 11:00 a.m. at the latest.

Parking: Minimal at the start point, but there is a parking lot at the North West conter of Highland and Douglas.

Cost: $10 per person, and that will include getting a Tea Party Shirt and help cover the cost of the entry to the parade. $3 if you do not want a shirt. All funds left over will be held to cover the cost of future activities, and there will be future activities.

Signs: This time, they should contain only the following

-Any qotation from our founding fathers
-Any pre-established motto, i.e., "give me liberty or give me death," "Dont tread on me," etc.
-Flags (state, U.S., or vintage U.S.).

A Request: Make an attempt for any sign saying "Tea Party" to be in red, white and blue.

We'll also need as many signs like this as possible:

"ELGIN TEA PARTY PATRIOTS"

"TEA PARTY PATRIOTS of Elgin"

Contact: todd223@comcast.net (subject line: "Tea Party 4th of July Elgin")

or 847-305-7982.
